VHSG is a completely volunteer run organization. No one gets paid, not even the administrator, so that we can offer the classes for free to home school families. Most of us are home school moms that see the idea behind Virtual Homeschool Group as very much a blessing to families making is so very worth our time, talents, and investments to keep the project running and healthy. If you would like to jump in and help, our needs come in two forms ....

VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is a fantastic way to help the VHSG project. We have little short-term volunteering needs if you don't have a lot of time to spare as well as teaching and course design team needs that are for those willing to commit to full academic year commitments of time.
How Do I Become a Teacher?
We run training opportunities, always free, through the summer months with a commit date about mid-July. Announcements will be posted here.
How Do I Help With Course Design?
More and more we hope to move toward creating our own open source courses and enrich the resources in all of the courses that we have. This means that we need subject matter experts (SME's) and team members for our media and design unit.
The media and design unit is a year-round team made up of designers and developers of eLearning material. These teams include digital artists, photographers, videographers, animators, Flash programmers (CS3), foley artists and voice actors. If you have tools, talents, and a willingness to accept the commitment of being team member, jump on in to the summer orientation coming up in June. Use the contact form tab at the top of the page or the Volunteer section of the forms to let us know of your interest. What Short-Term Tasks do you have?
We will use the Volunteer Threads in the Help Desk Tab (see tabs at the top of the page or CLICK HERE) as a clearing house for the many small tasks that the teams and teachers need to have done. Tasks are along the lines of receiving a template and using the template to create a lab starter, inputting quiz questions into a Moodle question database (training provided), etc. | DONATING
Donating is a great way to help VHSG. Currently, we do not take donations year-round to save our volunteers for teaching duties during the academic part of the year, but in the summer months we will post here how to donate to the project.
The 2012/13 fund-raising will open in early June. The area below is where you will then find a graphic that shown our goal and how we are doing reaching it. Starting in early June, keep an eye open here! |
