American Sign Language 1
ALL materials in this course belong to Dr. Bill Vicars from ASL University. This curriculum is intended for high school students. Be aware that the pace may be too fast for young learners, and the vocabulary and some of the discussion topics will be beyond them. Signing Time videos available on YouTube, or My Smart Hands would be better suited for them.

This course is AYOP (At Your Own Pace) and has no live teacher instruction. The option for a LIVE class in the fall is possible, but will be limited and based on the number of teachers available.

ALL materials in this course belong to Dr. Bill Vicars from ASL University. There are no books necessary to take this course.

It is recommended for the student to select 4 books to read throughout the course of a year, one book per quarter. Of course the student may read more, but they must be on the subject of deafness in history, current events, biographies, etc. The parent may require a book report for each book and average them into the student's final grades.

Here is a list of books to get you started. **PARENTS: It is recommended that you preview and help select the books with your student.

!! NOTE that this is only a suggested list of books to get you started on the hunt. Some books may contain subject content that your student is not ready for. Please use your discretion to determine the books that will be right for your student. Your library is a great resource to locate more books. !!
